The following is a list of some of the more famous heritage sites

Newgrange & Knowth
Bru Na Boinne.

This Passage Grave pre- dates the great Pyramids of Egypt and was built around 5,000 years ago. It is world famous because it is one of the earliest man made structures in the world.

County Museum, Dundalk

The county Museum is situated in the centre of Dundalk and has a wealth of information including Archeological and Industrial history.

Displays are multi media and covers the evolution of the area from Mesolithic period to the present day.

Millmount Museum, Drogheda

The nearby Town of Drogheda also contains a very interesting Museum and covers the history of Drogheda

Old Mellifont Abbey
Tullyallen,

Drogheda

Built in 1142 for the Cistercian Order, this abbey is steeped in the history of the area.

Monasterboice High Crosses

Founded in the 6th century this site contains one of the most intricately designed High Cross in the country.
